Devices
In regards to Heos, Spoke connects to a single device to get information about all other Heos devices on the network - in Spoke terms, this is considered the "primary" device. Out of the box, Spoke utilizes the first device found on the network to connect to as the primary device.
On occasion the primary device may be in state where it allows a connection but does not provide all required information about itself and/or other devices. In this case a hard restart of the device is usually the best course of action. If there is a device on the network that is more reliable than others in terms of accessibility and reliability, a device can be indicated as the Preferred Primary Device in Settings > Devices. When Spoke starts up it will try to connect to the preferred primary device first.
It is recommended that if a preferred primary device is specified that a static IP address be assigned to that device. In the case a preferred primary device's IP changes, the Preferred Primary Device setting will need to be specified again.
Each Heos device has an integrated web server (of sorts) capable of serving up web pages. The Device Dashboard Access window is nothing more than a web browser that loads up accessible Heos web pages. In fact, these pages can be accessed using any modern web browser - Spoke not required!
It is our recommendation to use this for informational purposes only. If you need to adjust device settings it's best to do so directly through the device as detailed in respective device documentation.
Apologies in advance, but all questions and/or issues reported regarding Heos generated content will be rerouted to the Gamma quadrant.
